Remembering Together Gathering Film

On the 7th of September 2023, we had our first in person event, Gathering Together, a rare opportunity to commune with artists and partners from the whole project network.

Gathering at the University of Stirling Pathfoot Building for the project’s first ever hybrid network event. For those that weren’t able to be in Stirling on the day, group discussions in the Lecture Theatre were streamed live, with those joining online able to add their own contributions to the conversation.

A small and informal panel of artists was put together to offer some insights on some topics and to generate a wider discussion amongst participants. With a project that reaches across the whole country inevitably not everyone was able to make the journey to Stirling but island and rural areas were represented  from Orkney in the north to Dumfries and Galloway in the south.

Gathering Together was a significant milestone in Remembering Together’s evaluation and learning. It was perhaps on that day that many people saw for the first time the complexity and depth of an arts-based project that was working at the face of such recent and far-reaching human experience. While remote working and online communication has many advantages, it was only at Gathering Together that we were able to fully appreciate not only the breadth of co-creation taking place but also the care and kindness shaping its outcome.

A short film by Bircan Birol captured the day:
