Community Partners in Clackmannanshire: Building the Memorial Together
The Remembering Together project in Clackmannanshire was a powerful testament to what can be achieved when community partners come together with a shared vision. Throughout the project, we were fortunate to collaborate with incredible location partners who worked side by side with us to create a meaningful, lasting tribute to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These partners weren’t just participants—they were co-creators of the project, contributing their unique perspectives, energy, and commitment to this collective effort.
Our work with organisations like Sauchie Active8, Menstrie Primary School and Parents Council, Muckhart Parish Church, The Conservation Volunteers, OYCI in Tillicoultry, the Alva Scouts, Tullibody Community Development Trust, and the Carsebridge Cultural Campus has built a robust network of collaboration. These groups represent the heartbeat of our community, each bringing diverse backgrounds, goals, and ways of working. Yet, they all shared a unified goal: to honour the memory of the Covid-19 experience while looking towards a hopeful future for our communities.
This project wasn't simply about building a memorial, but about forging deep connections. By fostering mutual partnerships, we created a strong movement of wellbeing, positivity, and opportunities across the county. Together, we have shown how powerful community-led action can be in shaping both physical spaces and emotional landscapes. Our location partners played a pivotal role in helping to design and execute the creative workshops, and in bringing people from all walks of life into the fold.
By working together, we built something greater than the sum of its parts. These partnerships have laid the foundation for continued collaboration and resilience, creating long-lasting opportunities for personal and community growth. As we reflect on this journey, we know that the strength of our community lies in its people—individuals, families, and organisations—working in tandem to create a better future. Through this shared effort, we’ve not only remembered the struggles of the pandemic but have built a beacon of hope, healing, and possibility for all.
